No sooner do I decide writing a very limited render of SVG for the HTML5 canvas element is a good idea I realise that I sinking back into the safe zone of technology for the sake of technology rather than actually producing something I actually need. After all inkscape has a perfect good export to png feature. So I stopped coding the renderer.
It was not a waste of time as I did learn some more about JQuery and that is quite useful.
The renew for hosting for marblemice.com. It was only £35 a year but I decided that as I was not really using the hosting anymore I would cancel it. £35 is a dinner out with the family and better spent that way. I was left with the domain name but no hosting.
I pondered this for a while and decided it would be nice to have a little web presence that was sort of straight out of 1996 or 8. A quick bit of hacking and I put together a little JQuery powered site. With lots of black goodness. It is meant as a fun website where I can just upload stuff I make. I didn't have anything to upload so I made a quick Dice distribution viewer. Again powered by JQuery and really hacked together although I am confident gets the distributions correct.
With the site ready to go but with no hosting I figured why not use google app engine to host it. an hour of messing with CX records and it was all set up. Google app engine saved me the £35 in hosting fee - yay for google.
Again the site is really mean to fun in the sense it is fun for me to mess with. Putting the fun back into coding? Here is the link should you want to browse to it. It is lacking in content as personal websites always are.
