Update 13/11/11

JqueryMobile beta 3 came out but alas no fixes on the transitions for android. I don't pretend to understand their in depth discussion about the problems that they posted a while ago but I get the feeling it may be something they cannot fix their end and really need browser support to improve. Hopefully the next version of android advance the browser enough to make these problems go away. Transitions work great on chrome.

If I am honest it is a bit demotivating as I have a selection of apps written with CoffeeScript and JQueryMobile with a light Java wrapper to make them into native android apps all at what I would call Beta or at very least feature complete. I don't feel compelled to work on these until I know I can ship them.

I guess I could do web version of these app but they are really geared up for the little screen. At the moment most people get apps via app stores so web versions would not work so well.

This might be changing slowly as Apple has forced many companies that sell items or subscriptions in app (such as books) of their app store because of a policy that says the subscript/book must be availiable on the appstore as well. The means the likes of Amazon and others have had not choice other than to deploy web apps. Some look very good I have to say. But for the average joe that app store is still the way to go if you want to target phones.

So with some free time on my hands I decided to have a bit of a purge and simplify my electronic life. Removing websites and distractions like ads from this blog. I still have a few more things to do but I will wait until I am in a bad mood to do that. Culling stuff is always best done when  I am grumpy :)

Coding wise I am back into messing with Java and PlayN. I have not put PlayN thought its paces yet as I have only been playing with the Java output stuff. It looks promising.
