Android in Town

Over last weekend we took a trip into town as a family unit to do a bit of shopping and treat the children to a drink out. We don't head into the main town much prefering out of town shopping when going as a unit - shame on us.

I was pleasantly suprised by the high profile that android was getting in most of the mobile phone shops. Many of big adverts in the windows where for android phones.

There were even a couple of Dell representatives out pounding the street shoing off their latest android mini tablet thing. Ok it is only android 1.5 but he was very sure it would get an upgrade to 2.1 (I asked twice) To be honest it is going to be a bit of a hard sell when compared with the ipad it looks kind of thick but otherwise looks like a nice bit of harware. It may target a slightly different niche compared with the ipad, if it was half the price then I think they would be onto a successful product, as it is I am betting on an also run that is quickly replaced as dell learn more about the market. I don't like saying that as the more people in the market the better it is for consumers (of which I am one) and the guys seemed to know what he was talking about.

I suspect Dell know all this otherwise the Dell representatives would have been outside the Mac shop rather than a random mobile phone shop.
