I am a programmer by trade but with a strong physics (and hence math) background. This leads me to be interested in things like haskell.
I have worked in the games industry and one of the things you gain from that is a get things done attitude that blew away a lot of my academic consider every possibility and never get anything completed. Although I currently work in a different field from game. I'm still doing and enjoying C++ in my day job. I won't be talking about my day job much. This is more about my tech adventures in the evenings.
So I enjoy haskell, but am still learning, and I tend to do a fair bit of Java coding. I know it is not the best language and not exactly the choice language of hackers but it does get the job done in a pragmatic way.
Most of my Java at the moment is done on the android platform and I have published some small apps over on spiderflock. Some have been moderately successful and other have been less so. Some only took about 4 hrs to create. I maintain a blog there but it is more for users of the apps rather than a more technical discussion topic.
I also like to run! Ok slight change in topic but hey it is going to leech into this blog at some point.
Finally I am gradually starting a journey on investing in stocks and shares. I mention this because just before my hosted account ran into trouble I had prepared a number of post on my thought on investing. They will probably end up here as thankfully I had written them using Google docs.
