Virtual Box and not Dorking around

At work I installed VirtualBox so I could compile code on linux without rebooting my main windows machine. I quite like VirutalBox as ubuntu when on smoothly and I could share up the directory of code with real ease.

One lunch hour I decided it would be nice to put ghc onto ubuntu so I can mess with haskell on linux, thus providing a consisten environment for my home and lunch hour hacking sessions.

Version 6.10 went on using apt-get and that is where I should have stopped fiddling and entered the happy world of programming. Instead I decided I wanted to use 6.12 and get the Haskell platform installed.

Within half an hour I though I was one step away from getting it installed. Then a long while later I was sure I was only about 1 simple step away from getting it all work. I was effectivily dorking around with operating system and compiling code but not actually getting anywhere. Yep I was probably onely one step away from finishing the task but I stopped.

I have been trying to get focused this year and dorking around like that wastes time and defocusses my attention. I did not need 6.12, none of my haskell code is beyond simple stuff yet (I don't get much time to work with it) so why bother being on the latest version of ghc. Just wait until ghc 6.12 makes it into the world of apt-get and get on with other stuff, it is something I have to keep reminding myself.

I have not use the work "dorking" for ages...
