Sort Of A Slow Month

At the start of the month I felt in need of a break from coding and for a week or so defocussed. I had released idea chimp and my simple attempts at promoting that had not been successful. I was a little bit confused as to which project to tackle next.

I started on a simple web app while also have a little bit of game dev going on in the background. The simple web app had a few nights of frustration while trying to figure out how to get a 1inch square to render in svg. No I am not writing an one in square generator app :)

The little game I have been working on has continues to progress to the point where I am pretty close to releasing it.

All my web coding is now done in CoffeeScript and I am quite happy with that. I have also experimented with writing a few scripts via NodeJS for manipulating files etc. So basically most of my coding at home is now done in CoffeeScript.

Having said that I did spend some time reading a tutorial on Haskell. It seem to be such a nice language to use but I never quite seem to pick the right project to make use of it. Sometimes it feels like the opposite of CoffeeScript not in a bad way more a complementary way. I had considered doing system scripting with it but that was before I discovered NodeJS, not that I write many scripts.

Oh and on a final not I also took a little time out an wrote a couple of short stories. Just a couple of ideas I was playing with, writing them down let me get them out of my mind. I have not published them anywhere and it is the first time I have attempted to write fiction in a while (excluding the choose your own adventure game I wrote).
