Searching For A Private Place To Dump My Brain.
Over the past couple of weeks my brain has been on fire when it comes to conjuring up ideas for android apps or game design ideas. It is really nice when my brain is in one of these modes.
The trouble is all new ideas seem like good ideas but really they are just new. It is only an old idea (as in weeks of gestating) that still seem like good ideas that should be taken seriously.
Of course the new ideas keep pushing the older ideas out of my memory and so I needed somewhere to start to store ideas. I figured this was a good time to get a little bit more organised in general. I have TO DO lists, ideas for things and partly written blog posts all over the place, it all needs consolidating somewhere. As they are they are not really effective.
Given how much I enjoy writing and editing text in vim (I am writing this post in gvim) my first thought was look there. I installed vimwiki and had a play. It is not quite the org-mode of vim but it is not bad. Simple to install and simple to use.
The plan was set up the wiki so it is in my dropbox folder so I would not need to worry about backing it up. I was set to go but just delayed for a few days.
Over this time I realised that I really want to be able to access and edit it anywhere. Pictures are also important. Some more thinking and I decided to give google sites a try.
Obviously it can be accessed anywhere and while image creation has to be done via google docs it is not too bad. So while I doubt I will be talking about how amazing google sites is for a personal "wiki" I plan on using it as such. All information will be push that way although I suspect initial drafts for longer text I want to store will be written in vim.
Oh as it is a personal dump of information so I obviously I won't be sharing it up. Now I start the slow progress to put all my documents there...
