End Of May Update 2012

The big news is my latest app  has had zero downloads. This makes it the most unsuccessful app I have ever written! Ok I actually find this quite funny. While the android market has probably changed a little bit since I last launched a new app I suspect I am to blame.

I have taken the decision to focus my apps on the very latest versions of android. This means I am removing 96% of possible users from ever even seeing my app. For a success this is probably not a good idea. Hopefully over the coming months more and more users will either have their phones upgrade or will reach the end of contract and get a new phone!

For now I am not going to change course on my decision to target android version 4. It is just a matter of waiting until more phones start to appear.

I started my second app, this time in the domain of time management. Again it is going to be quite simple but hopefully useful to people. It is an app that I want to use. Hopefully before the end of June but no guarentees there :)

In terms of getting back into android programming I seem to be enjoying (re)learning it and it is going into my head. My productivity is slowly going up which is a good thing and is something I really wanted to happen.

I also purchased an book on openGL ES and plan to work my way through it. I did some openGL a long time ago (pre shader days) and feel it was time to properly update my knowledge. Messing around with libgdx made me want to update this area of my knowledge.

Currently my plan is to remain focussed on developing app but I do have lots of game ideas I would like to produce.  Increasing my skill in art before doing so is probably a good idea. When I practice art I tend to improve so just lots of practice.
